Rust-Belt Residuum

Rust-Belt Rsiduum – Old Warehouse on S. Elm St. just south of downtown Muncie.

Surely, this old structure has seen better days but if it could talk, it probably has a treasure trove of stories to share. Though it’s fairly obscure from some of the newer, eye-pleasing attractions downtown, this old industrial building is still in use today on the grounds of Dague Builders Supplies, 2 blocks from the YMCA in downtown Muncie.

Dormant Stacks

The old Ball Corporation Industrial Park houses several glass related operations as well as steel re-bar and plastics. 2 historical markers now sit in the park, one for the Ball Corporation and another for the Hemingray Glass Corporation. Many of the structures remain still in use, but a large portion appear to be unoccupied.

Using a friend’s awesome Nikon CoolPix digital camera, I created a set of shots in the downstairs lavatory with a mirrored wall behind and the mirror of the medicine cabinet in front. Taken from a set inspired by the old Pink Floyd cover photo on their album “Ummagumma”, this particular shot is just a head on shot.
